✦Rare pink marble shaped sea glass set in sterling silver, collected in Cornwall.
✦Complimentary silver chain - 30 inches / 75cm
✦Hallmarked by the London Assay Office.

Pink is a rare colour of sea glass, the chances of finding a piece are estimated as 1 in every 1000 pieces collected. Pink glass was primarily produced as tableware in the Depression era by adding selenium to the glass mixture. It’s more likely though to be ‘sun coloured’ glass, a piece that was originally clear but UV radiation has changed its atomic structure giving it a pink tone. Selenium, which slowly shifts to pink in sunlight, was also used to make clear glass only from 1915-30 when it was replaced by arsenic, which makes it’s easy to date pink pieces as being over 100 years old.

Ships in 2-3 working days.
